What this decision was about
Charges and fees, Complaint handling
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mr B complains that Barclays Bank Plc allowed an administration fee charged by a payday lender to debit his account.Charges and fees
Barclays says it wrote to Mr B about any ‘pending’ transactions (including administration fee) but he did not respond. So the administration fee was paid. Mr B complained to Barclays. the bank said it had not made an error – it had given Mr B plenty of time to tell it he did not want the payment(s) to proceed. But it did realise it had not dealt with Mr B’s complaint as quickly as it should have done.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN8277235.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
