Wed Oct 16deadline to accept (not the decision date)

What this decision was about

Unauthorised transaction

In the Ombudsman’s words

The relevant regulations for Mr O’s complaint are the Payment Services Regulations 2009. These set out that the payment service user (Mr O) is liable for transactions that were authorised, and Tesco for transactions that weren’t authorised. So the issue for me to determine is whether or not Mr O authorised the transactions.Unauthorised transaction

Rules cited

Payment Services Regulations 2017

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN6665498.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
