Fri Jan 05deadline to accept (not the decision date)

What this decision was about
Credit file reporting, Mortgage administration
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mr S complained about a late payment on his mortgage with Mortgage Express. It meant he was charged a fee and his credit file was affected.Credit file reporting
Mortgage Express rules meant the mortgage and the bank account had to be in the same name for direct debit payments. So Mortgage Express wrote to him on 6 March, saying it could only set up direct debits in the mortgage account holder’s name.Mortgage administration

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN3515600.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
