In the Ombudsman’s words
Mrs B complains that National Westminster Bank Plc (‘NatWest’) won’t refund a number of disputed transactions on her current account that she says she didn’t make or authorise.Unauthorised transaction
NatWest told Mrs B to cut up her debit card (which was still in her possession) and said that it would order her a replacement. The new card was sent out, but after NatWest investigated Mrs B’s fraud claim it told her that it wasn’t prepared to refund the payments, and that it would be taking immediate steps to close her account.Account closed or refused

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN2112877.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
