What this decision was about

Mortgage administration, Bereavement and power of attorney

In the Ombudsman’s words

The mortgage repayments were made from an account in Mrs S’s sole name. Clydesdale told Mr S that the account would be “secured”. By this the bank meant “frozen”. As a result, payment wasn’t made to the mortgage account and Clydesdale put the account into arrears.Mortgage administration

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN1245018.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
