Mon Apr 04deadline to accept (not the decision date)

What this decision was about
Account closed or refused, Funds blocked or frozen
In the Ombudsman’s words
TSB blocked Mrs M’s account... TSB staff then visited Mrs M at home to discuss this. They concluded the account had been opened by Mrs M’s son but in Mrs M’s name. And without Mrs M’s knowledge. Also the account was a personal one. But was being used for business. So the bank decided to close the account.Account closed or refused
There’s no dispute that TSB blocked Mrs M’s account. The bank has explained it was concerned about some of the transactions on the account. I think blocking the account was a reasonable precaution for the bank to take.Funds blocked or frozen

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN0901356.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
