What this decision was about

Account closed or refused, Funds blocked or frozen, Complaint handling

In the Ombudsman’s words

Santander informed Mr A it had decided to block his account.Account closed or refused
the £6,500 was moved into one of Santander’s suspense accounts and didn’t form part of the funds that were earmarked for release.Funds blocked or frozen
But for the poor customer service Mr A did receive, which ranges from poor communication to agents demonstrating their frustration with him, I think £100 is fair compensation for the distress and inconvenience this caused.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-4539872.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
