What this decision was about

Charges and fees, Complaint handling

In the Ombudsman’s words

Mr S complains Volkswagen Financial Services (UK) Limited unfairly terminated a hire agreement and made additional charges.Charges and fees
He found the agreement ended in May 2017 - at which point a balloon payment was due. Mr S hadn’t paid this - but had kept the van. He was satisfied VW had made Mr S aware the contract had ended and payment was due. And he found no payments had been made since May 2017. So he felt VW hadn’t done anything wrong in terminating the agreement and seeking their additional costs.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN8976679.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
