Fri Dec 01deadline to accept (not the decision date)

In the Ombudsman’s words

Barclays also pointed out that it sent letters to each party on a joint account, so it had been sending letters about the account to Mrs H as well as to Mr H. It advised that the account was no longer with the debt collection agency, but it asked Mr and Mrs H to get in touch about repayment and their financial difficulties. But it said that as Mrs H was a joint account holder, it had marked her credit file with a default, as it was legally obliged to do.Credit file reporting

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN8733185.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
