In the Ombudsman’s words
Mrs A and Mr B complain that Yorkshire Building Society (trading as Barnsley Building Society) advised them to take out a mortgage of which £40,000 was on an interest only basis, when it was aware that their endowment policy was only for £36,800.Product mis-sold
They also say the building society reduced the term of both parts of their loan by one year, when they had only requested the shorter term for the repayment part.Mortgage administration

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN8482170.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
