Wed Jul 29deadline to accept (not the decision date)
The Ombudsman does not print a decision date. The date above is the deadline the consumer was given to accept or reject the decision, which is set about a month after it was issued. It is reliable to the year, not to the month.
What this decision was about
Treatment in financial difficulty, Charges and fees, Interest and rates
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mr and Mrs G complain that Skipton Building Society didn’t treat them fairly whilst they were experiencing difficulty paying their mortgage.Treatment in financial difficulty
Lastly, Mrs G said that Skipton charged £750 in legal fees in relation to a scheduled court hearing, although it said it would cancel those fees if Mr G contacted it, which he did.Charges and fees
So, overall, based on what I’ve seen, I don’t think Skipton has acted unfairly by failing to vary the interest rate applied to Mr and Mrs G’s account from 2010.Interest and rates

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN7544383.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
