What this decision was about

Support for vulnerable customers, Service failure

In the Ombudsman’s words

Mr F’s illness means he has regular medical appointments and so a reliable car is very important to him.Support for vulnerable customers
I think Close Brothers have missed the point that had the car been usable Mr F wouldn’t have had to hire an alternative. Additionally I don’t think Close Brothers has thought about the impact of the prolonged problems on Mr F.Service failure

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN6806750.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
