What this decision was about

Complaint handling, Data and privacy

In the Ombudsman’s words

I don’t think that this explains why BM didn’t seem to be aware of the letter in February, when it wrote to Mr P and then sent the complaint details to our service. This does seem to me to have been an oversight on BM’s part. And Mr P says this is one of the reasons he complained to our service.Complaint handling
Mr P complains that Bank of Scotland plc (trading as Birmingham Midshires) (“BM”) gave his email to other parts of the Bank of Scotland group, although he asked it not to.Data and privacy

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN5867178.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
