Mon Sep 07deadline to accept (not the decision date)

The Ombudsman does not print a decision date. The date above is the deadline the consumer was given to accept or reject the decision, which is set about a month after it was issued. It is reliable to the year, not to the month.

What this decision was about

Credit file reporting, Mortgage administration

In the Ombudsman’s words

Miss I complains that Nationwide Building Society is asking her to pay a debt of about £20,000 left over after her flat was sold. She wants the society to cancel the debt and ensure her credit file hasn’t been affected.Credit file reporting
Miss I also wants Nationwide to clear any adverse entries from her credit file. I wouldn’t ask it to do that. Nationwide has a responsibility to give the credit agencies accurate information about the payments on Miss I’s mortgage, and I can’t see that it’s made any errors.Mortgage administration

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN5481316.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
