What this decision was about
Payment delayed or failed, Complaint handling
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mrs B complains that the Bank of Scotland plc (Halifax) failed to process a direct debit (DD) payment to her insurance company “A” in respect of life cover for herself and her husband.Payment delayed or failed
Mrs B has my heartfelt sympathies. I understand she is very upset about the mistakes and errors she feels Halifax has made, but the key question here centres squarely on whether Halifax were right to stop the DD going out, as it did.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN5106823.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
