Charges and fees

In the Ombudsman’s words

However, she did not consider that the bank was responsible to Mr and Mrs W for any valuation and Mr and Mrs W could have undertaken their own valuation. She said that the valuation obtained was not so obviously wrong that the bank should not have relied on it while the bank needed to value the property for its own purposes and it is quite normal for the bank to charge the customer for this.Charges and fees

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN3807587.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
