What this decision was about
Complaint handling, Support for vulnerable customers
In the Ombudsman’s words
He then tried to log a complaint with Barclays and was given poor customer service. He says his complaint wasn’t logged immediately, he had to log the complaint a second time, he tried to get in touch with Barclays staff several times and calls were not returned when promised.Complaint handling
Barclays accepted it had given Mr R wrong information – it later told him it couldn’t add a name to his personal account without him being present – because it had changed its policy for personal accounts. So it suggested a reasonable adjustment by having bank staff visit him at home to carry out his instructions.Support for vulnerable customers

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN2514255.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
