In the Ombudsman’s words

Santander said that the mortgage offer Miss L had accepted when she took out her mortgage in 2011, set out that she would need to obtain written consent from Santander before she could let the property. It also noted that the Tariff of charges it sent with Miss L’s six monthly mortgage statements confirmed that a fee would be payable before it would give its consent for a property to be let.Charges and fees

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN2407290.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
