What this decision was about

Card dispute or chargeback, Complaint handling

In the Ombudsman’s words

Mr R complains that an item he bought using credit provided by MBNA Limited is of unsatisfactory quality and MBNA provided a poor response when he raised a claim under section 75 of the Consumer Credit Act 1974.Card dispute or chargeback
Mr R says MBNA only considered a claim under section 75 in February - when he’d asked it to do that some weeks before. And MBNA told him he couldn’t bring a claim under section 75 - as he’d bought the goods for someone else - when it was too late to pursue the chargeback any further. Mr R thinks MBNA should have explained all of this much soonerComplaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN2062546.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
