What this decision was about
Treatment in financial difficulty, Charges and fees
In the Ombudsman’s words
I’m satisfied that Santander acted unfairly when it continued charging overdraft interest and associated fees from January 2022 onwards. While Mr F might not have got in touch to confirm this, nonetheless by this point, it was evident Mr F’s overdraft had become demonstrably unsustainable for him.Treatment in financial difficulty
Mr F has complained that Santander UK Plc (“Santander”) unfairly continued applying charges to his overdraft and his credit card.Charges and fees

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-5796525.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
