What this decision was about
Charges and fees, Support for vulnerable customers
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mr P has complained that he was struggling to pay off his overdraft and Lloyds Bank PLC (“Lloyds”) acted unfairly by continuing to apply charges to his account which contributed to his financial difficulties.Charges and fees
Lloyds should’ve realised that Mr P was in financial difficulty and refunded the overdraft charges applied to the account from November 2015 because they thought the management of his account showed Mr P wasn’t using his overdraft as intended and that Lloyds ought to have realised he was in financial difficulty.Support for vulnerable customers

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-3482896.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
