In the Ombudsman’s words
The complaint Mr W complains that Nationwide Building Society gave a fraudster details about his account and then allowed a payment he didn’t authorise.Unauthorised transaction
He wanted to know who could comment on this issue. He considered he had little protection as a consumer and that other banks didn’t make things so easy for a fraudster. Mr W said his complaint was never about getting his money back but about Nationwide’s attitude and his severe anxiety before the money was returned.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-2114992.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
