What this decision was about

Interest and rates, Complaint handling

In the Ombudsman’s words

Mr M complains about the service he received from the TSB Bank plc (TSB) when he applied for a loan. He feels he has been treated unfairly.Interest and rates
I also take into account that Mr M was not guaranteed a loan at 2.8% and he was advised of that. So, when TSB properly assessed his financial circumstances a different APR has been produced. That is unfortunate but not unfair. And I think the £75 offered to Mr M was reasonable for the confusion TSB caused.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN9124751.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
