What this decision was about
Treatment in financial difficulty, Bereavement and power of attorney
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mr T complains that National Westminster Bank Plc (‘NatWest’) has treated him unfairly over his mortgage and his financial difficulties.Treatment in financial difficulty
Sadly I have now heard that Mr T’s family member has recently died, so it is doubtful whether a successful application for the Mortgage Rescue Scheme could be made. In these circumstances it is fair for NatWest to apply appropriate forbearance in the aftermath of Mr T’s recent bereavement.Bereavement and power of attorney

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN8930166.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
