What this decision was about

Credit file reporting, Complaint handling

In the Ombudsman’s words

Mr C complains that Santander UK plc has registered a default against his credit file.Credit file reporting
Santander said it had found the call recording from November 2012. It then agreed it had told Mr C the loan account had been written off in July 2012. But this had been incorrect, and its staff member had wrongly read its internal notes.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN8123317.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
