What this decision was about

APP scam refund refused, Credit file reporting

In the Ombudsman’s words

I can only identify payments for women’s items and modest amounts spent in supermarkets. There are no payments for household expenses, such as utilities’ bills and rent. There are regular payments to him from the joint account but he said his ex-girlfriend was paying back money she owed him. She didn’t pay him when she received the loans. On balance, I think it’s more likely than not the ex-girlfriend took out the loans in Mr P’s name, without his consent or authority.APP scam refund refused

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN7502632.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
