What this decision was about

Treatment in financial difficulty, Product mis-sold

In the Ombudsman’s words

The adjudicator added that in his view, the offer also made clear that the actual amounts paid to the account and to Mr G and Mrs H directly could be different from those set out in the offer letter. This was, in fact what happened, because Mr G and Mrs H had not been paying their monthly instalment whilst the complaint was being looked at. Overall, however, the adjudicator concluded that they had received the correct amount of redress.Treatment in financial difficulty
This complaint is about a secured loan Mr G and Mrs H took out with HFC Bank Limited trading as Beneficial Finance in 2006, and the single premium payment protection insurance (PPI) policy arranged along with the loan. Mr G and Mrs H complained initially that the PPI had been mis-sold.Product mis-sold

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN6300611.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
