What this decision was about
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mrs P says that the overdraft should not have been increased. I understand Mrs P’s concerns that the overdraft was allowed to increase and that spending was not blocked. However this was a commercial decision made by the bank and having looked at the information provided I do not find I can say that the increase was irresponsible.Irresponsible lending

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN5204966.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
