What this decision was about

Treatment in financial difficulty

In the Ombudsman’s words

Sainsbury’s Bank was satisfied Mrs H was aware of the loan and her liability to repay it so it didn’t think it’d done anything wrong. But it was aware of her health issues and asked her to send some medical evidence and details of her income and expenditure to its recoveries team so it could consider whether to write off the loan.Treatment in financial difficulty

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN3661860.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
