What this decision was about
In the Ombudsman’s words
I’ve thought carefully about what Miss C has said about Nationwide calling her home number, when she’d asked it not to – and that it had spoken to somebody about her account. The information I’ve seen shows a request to remove the home telephone number in June 2016. I’ve looked at the call log information Nationwide has provided and there is nothing to suggest Nationwide has called the home number after the request to remove it in June. The call logs do show some calls were made to Miss C’s home number prior to it being removed. These calls all seem to have been generated by an automatic dialler and then terminated, either after it was introduced where the call was from or ended due to the system not be able to verify the account holder. Overall, I’ve not seen anything that persuades me a conversation has taken place on the home number and from what I’ve seen I can’t see that Nationwide has disclosed any sensitive or personal information about Miss C.Data and privacy

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN2706701.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
