What this decision was about
APP scam refund refused, Complaint handling
In the Ombudsman’s words
Mr D has complained that Western Union Payment Services Ireland Limited has not refunded him two transactions he made using their services. This money was sent overseas and he believes proper checks would have stopped the money being picked up by fraudsters.APP scam refund refused
I also agree that Western Union didn’t manage this complaint well, and they accept this too. £100 is a fair amount for this inconvenience.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN2061029.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
