Mon May 21deadline to accept (not the decision date)

What this decision was about

Payment delayed or failed, Service failure

In the Ombudsman’s words

There’s no dispute that Nationwide took longer to make the cash back payment to Mr P than it said it would.Payment delayed or failed
Mr P also isn’t happy that Nationwide paid the £50 direct into his account. I appreciate Nationwide made the payment the same day it sent its final response letter saying this is what it intended to do. So this didn’t give Mr P time to ask for alternative arrangements to be made.Service failure

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN0286254.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
