What this decision was about

Support for vulnerable customers

In the Ombudsman’s words

I’ve thought very carefully about this and what the estate of Mrs F has said about the late Mrs F’s mental state at the time. And I do accept it’s entirely possible that Mrs F’s mental state was such that a power of attorney would have been appropriate, or some other real protection from consenting to transactions and requests she might not otherwise have consented to.Support for vulnerable customers

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-6070486.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
