Thu Sep 18deadline to accept (not the decision date)

The Ombudsman does not print a decision date. The date above is the deadline the consumer was given to accept or reject the decision, which is set about a month after it was issued. It is reliable to the year, not to the month.

What this decision was about

Credit file reporting, Product mis-sold

In the Ombudsman’s words

Santander has made a number of arguments about Mr B’s credit file. I don’t accept that it is not possible for this to be altered. Mr B should never have been the borrower and I therefore don’t think it’s fair that it should impact his credit file, as a sole trader or as an individual.Credit file reporting
Santander is now holding Mr B personally liable for the loan. Mr B believes this is unfair because he intended to apply for the BBL on behalf of B and indeed believed he had done so.Product mis-sold

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-5750026.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
