What this decision was about
Treatment in financial difficulty, Complaint handling
In the Ombudsman’s words
HSBC said that Mr B’s balance was overdrawn by £4,631.12 on 9 August 2021, and that is why they didn’t reduce his overdraft limit.Treatment in financial difficulty
I do think HSBC let Mr B down by not communicating with him why his overdraft limit had not been reduced as planned and therefore they should pay Mr B the £75 which they offered him.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-3899491.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
