What this decision was about

Complaint handling, Service failure

In the Ombudsman’s words

I can see the late Mr M went on to send letters to Barclays and called it from the hospital. Barclays says that when it received the late Mr M’s letters it raised a complaint. I’ve read the letters in question and I can see complaints were made. I’m satisfied Barclays’ response was reasonable.Complaint handling
Barclays accepts its agent should’ve given more information alternative ways to transfer funds between accounts and it’s offered a total of £150 to apologise for this.Service failure

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-3898293.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
