Payment delayed or failed, Complaint handling
In the Ombudsman’s words
delaying and then giving an unfair decision on a loan applicationPayment delayed or failed
HSBC decided to decline S’s loan application at the end of September. The bank said it wasn’t able to approve the application as there hadn’t been any turnover through S’s business account in the last twelve months. The bank did, however, accept it had taken longer that it should have to process the application due to the account restriction.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-3322370.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.
The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
