What this decision was about

Product mis-sold, Complaint handling

In the Ombudsman’s words

Mr K complains that Sainsbury’s Bank Plc misled him into applying for a credit card that charged him interest from account opening as opposed to an introductory balance transfer offer which he intended to take, because of their misleading website design.Product mis-sold
Sainsbury’s also said that as they didn’t receive communication from Mr K regarding problems with accessing his online account then they would assume that Mr K has access to his online account and statements. Sainsbury’s did acknowledge that the customer service he received on the phone call was poor and offered him £60 compensation for this.Complaint handling

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-3021785.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
