What this decision was about

Service failure

In the Ombudsman’s words

NatWest say that they’ve done this here. They’ve identified that the cheques had been cancelled because they’d been unable to verify Mr D’s signatures on the cheques, and they acknowledged that more should have been done when Mr D visited branch on the first occasion to ensure that the resubmitted cheque was processed effectively.Service failure

This page summarises the Ombudsman’s published final decision. The document itself is the record: DRN-2916846.pdf on financial-ombudsman.org.uk.

The outcome shown is the Ombudsman’s own published classification, not our reading of the text. Nothing here is legal advice, and a decision concerns only the complaint it was made about.
